Crucial decisions depend on the outputs of Catastrophe Models, but the outputs themselves depend on assumptions, data, and theories which constitute the Catastrophe Model.
A review of some historical landmarks in the history of catastrophe modeling is useful to better grasp the nature of these influential computer models.
